The fine print.

These terms are between you and TheMap ("we"), the operator of The Map. By purchasing a placement you agree to them.

1. What you are buying

The Map sells display placement on this website. A purchase gives you the right to display an image, a title, and a link on the block(s) you hold, shown to every visitor, for as long as you hold them. You are not buying property, a security, a token, or anything that can be resold, transferred, or withdrawn. Placements are not an investment and have no cash value.

2. Pricing and payment

All prices are shown in US dollars (USD) before you pay. The price of an unclaimed block is shown on the map and rises as the map fills; the price to take a held block is its current wall plus a minimum raise, shown on the block before checkout. You are charged once per purchase, by card, through Stripe. We do not store your card details.

3. Delivery

Placements are delivered digitally and automatically: your block(s) update on the map within seconds of Stripe confirming payment, and you can edit the image, title, and link from your dashboard at any time at no extra cost. If your placement has not appeared within 10 minutes, email us and we will fix it or credit you.

4. Holding is not permanent

Any block can be taken by another user who pays at least the block's current wall plus the minimum raise. Walls decay 5% per day. When a block you hold is taken, we grant you promotional site credit equal to 50% of the block's wall at that moment, as a goodwill gesture. Promotional credit is not purchased, has no cash value, can only be applied to purchases on this website, and is never paid out.

5. Refund and cancellation policy

All sales are final. Because placements are delivered instantly and can be taken by other users at any time, we do not offer refunds, including when your block is later taken. If a block is taken by another user between the moment you start checkout and the moment your payment is confirmed, the portion of your payment for that block is refunded to your original payment method automatically (any portion paid with promotional credit is returned as credit). You may cancel a checkout any time before paying. If you believe you were charged in error (for example, a duplicate charge), email us within 14 days and we will investigate and refund genuine errors to the original payment method.

6. Content rules

You must have the right to display whatever you upload. No illegal content, malware, phishing, adult content, hate, harassment, impersonation, counterfeit goods, or deceptive claims. We may remove content or reclaim blocks that break these rules without refund or credit, and may suspend the account.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the site running but make no guarantees about uptime, traffic, clicks, or any business outcome. We may change prices, mechanics, or the grid with notice on this page. If we discontinue the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice. Promotional credit has no cash value and is not refunded.

8. Accounts

You must be 18 or older. You are responsible for your account and for anything purchased with it. One person per account; no bots or automated purchasing.

9. Liability

The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 30 days before the claim arose.
